Sculpture
Using found wood and materials, these sculptures seek to reference and reflect the land and landscapes they come from. Their raw form informs and evolves the pieces into their finished configurations and I look not to force their form but rather to react to the natural growing patterns and decay processes of the forests, swamps, and rivers.
I want to highlight how our physical existence is intricately connected to that of the trees and by extension all of life. The idea being, that if our physical bodies are mirrored in natural organic forms, we will come to the understanding that we are all a part of an intricate and un-severable web of existence. When we can empathize with the non human entities of our world it becomes impossible to commit the large scale destructive acts we have become so accustomed to.
